LAST DAY IN ROME

We decided to spend our last day in Rome walking along the Tiber River and further exploring the Trastevere. First, we walked to a bridge downstream of Pont Garibaldi and got one last look at dome of St. Peter’s.

Then we ventured upstream, past the Jewish Ghetto, to a bridge that crossed a small island in the middle of the river. We had learned that the building on that island was a hospital built over 400 years ago that still runs today.

From there, we walked through some cobblestone streets that paralleled our Via Trastevere apartment.

Returning “home,” we felt a little sad that we were leaving Rome tomorrow, but pleased that we had spent our time there well as both tourists and travelers. The next morning we took the train to Florence to begin the next part of our adventure in Italy.
